The New Marketplace for History
Vendors only pay a low monthly membership fee. No sales commission is charged. This keeps prices much lower than on the big sites.
In 2018, like many people that trade in antiques and collectibles, I went from being a collector of antique furniture to a trader in antique furniture when my kids could no longer run around the house without running into a 17th Century English Coffer or the like. So after the urging of my wife, I started selling pieces online–some through my own website, but mostly through well established multivendor platforms like eBay, Chairish and Etsy. It didn’t take long for me to realize that using those platforms comes with a steep price tag–usually to tune of 20-30% of final sale value, sometimes more!
Furthermore, none of the those sites are tailored to finding and purchasing bespoke one-off items and unusual collectibles. Frankly, trying to shop on them as a collector can be frustrating and trying sell on them while having to price my antiques to make up their fees is irritating.
So, I set up this site, to keep things simple and inexpensive, and to have an honest to goodness market for people that trade in unique, unusual, rare pieces of human history and those that search for those one-off, “can’t believe I found it” items. The market is small, but growing all the time. Tell your friends about us!
While we endeavor to restrict access to selling on the site to only those vendors with a suitable history in the trade, we do not in any way guarantee the authenticity of the items for sale nor do we guarantee any information associated with those items including provenance and/or other claims. Please do your research and ask plenty of questions before you make a purchase!
